The Reliable Prophetic Word
2 Peter 1:19 – Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 10 – Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet’s own imagination, 21 – for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
There’s a lot of false prophecy going around in regards to the events happening in modern Israel. The rebuilding of the temple. Red heifers. It can all be very interesting…and very misleading. There’s a lot of importance being given to the genetic genealogy of the Jews. I can’t imagine how much of it is fueling the current escalating conflict as each side tries to outdo the other in responding to violence with violence – each claiming they have a divine mandate from scripture to conduct such campaigns.
Watch out for those who try to explain it and consider the principles set forth in the scriptures. For no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. – 2 Peter 1:21.
Do not worry about whether you belong to the genetic Jewish race – for it is no longer important. Check out what John the Baptist, the greatest of the prophets (according to Jesus – see Matthew 11:11) had to say to the Pharisees and Sadducees: “You offspring of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance, and don’t think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father,’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones! Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. – Matthew 3:7-10.
The apostle Paul had this to say in Galatians: For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female – for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise. – Galatians 3:27-29.
Don’t be carried away by human prophetic interpretations which are centered around the genetic Jewish race. According to the Bible, our lives need to belong to Jesus – and if we belong to Jesus then we become the true spiritual descendants of Abraham and heirs to eternal life according to the promise of God. May we let our lives produce the fruit of repentance – the fruit that comes from the goodness of God Himself!
