Joseph Dreams

Joseph Dreams

Genesis 37:6 – “Let me tell you about the dream that I had!” he said. 7 – “We were tying sheaves together out in the middle of the fields, when all of a sudden, my sheaf stood up erect! And then your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf!”

The interpretation was no mystery – only the manner of its fulfillment.

verse 8 – At this, his brothers replied, “Do you really think you’re going to rule us or lord it over us?” So they hated him even more because of his dreams and his interpretations of them. 9 – But then he had another dream, and he proceeded to tell his brothers about that one, too. “I had another dream,” he said. “The sun, moon, and eleven of the stars were bowing down before me!”

verse 10 – When Joseph told his father about this, his father rebuked him and asked him, “What kind of dream is that? Will I, your mother, and your brothers really come to you and bow down to the ground in front of you?” 11 – As a result, his brothers became more envious of him But his father kept thinking about all of this.

What do you think about the prophecies and imagery surrounding the time of the end? Let’s check out the conclusion and interpretation of another dream found in Daniel 2:34 and 35: “As you were watching, a rock was quarried – but not with human hands – and it struck the iron and clay feet of the statue, breaking them to pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken in pieces together and became like chaff from a summer threshing floor that the breeze carries away without leaving a trace. Then the rock that struck the statue grew into a huge mountain and filled the entire earth.

Daniel 2:44 and 45: “During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor its sovereignty left in the hands of another people. It will shatter and crush all of these kingdoms, and it will stand forever. Now, just as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without human hands – and that it crushed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold to pieces – so also the great God has revealed to the king what will take place after this. Your dream will come true, and its meaning will prove trustworthy.”

The interpretation is obvious – Jesus is coming again.

Many will blindly live their lives not giving words like these another thought; living from trial to trial wondering why things seem to be getting worse. Many will mock those who share these dreams thinking there is no way it would ever come true – to think that the world today with all its nations and advancement would come to an end.

Let us, like Joseph’s father, Israel, think about these messages; these dreams that the Bible has recorded for us and may God prepare us for their grand fulfillment. Just as surely as Joseph’s dreams came true so also will the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar.

Jesus will set up His new kingdom and I want to not only witness when it takes place, I want to be an eternal resident of this kingdom as well and experience the fulfillment of Jesus’ words in John 14:3 – And since I’m going away to prepare a place for you, I’ll come back again and welcome you into my presence, so that you may be where I am.
