Don’t Be Afraid; Just Believe

Don’t Be Afraid; Just Believe

Mark 5:35 – While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house saying, “Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?” 36 – But Jesus, paying no attention to what was said, told the synagogue ruler, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”

Do you see what Jesus pays no attention to?  He pays no attention to careless words meant to steer people away from Him.  Jairus’ daughter was sick, and Jesus was on His way there when He stopped for the woman who had been hemorrhaging for twelve years.  After Jesus healed her and sent her away in peace the report reached them that the little girl had died.  With the report came the assumption – what’s the point of bothering the teacher further?

Let me ask you:  What’s the point of continuing to pray when you’re convinced you’re not going to get what you want?  How about asking this question:  Are you convinced that you know what you want?

Don’t be angry because of those who do evil, do not be jealous because of those who commit iniquity. Indeed, they soon will wither like grass, and like green herbs they will fade away. Trust in the LORD and do good. Dwell in the land and feed on faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; Trust him, and he will act. – Psalm 37:1-5.

Then, gently taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up.” The girl got up at once and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). They were completely astonished at this. – Mark 5:41-42.

Instead of being afraid of not getting what you want, focus on Jesus.  Don’t

be afraid; just believe in Jesus.  Trust in Him.  Delight in Him – and He will get right to the heart of what we really want and we, too, will be completely astonished at the power and love of Jesus!
