Tell Jesus the Truth

Tell Jesus the Truth

Mark 5:30 – Jesus knew at once that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?” 31 – His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you and you say, ‘Who touched me?'” 32 – But he looked around to see who had done it. 33 – Then the woman with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 – He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

The woman had been bleeding for twelve years.  Under the care of doctors she lost everything and grew worse instead of better.  Then she heard about Jesus.  She heard about the things He had done for others.  She learned where He was going to be passing by.  Then she repeated to herself over and over “If only I touch his clothes, I will be healed.”  She saw her opportunity, touched his garment, and instantly felt the healing take place.

I am amazed for this woman.  She was healed but she was also afraid.  She had been unclean and should not have been in the crowd that day, but she had become desperate.  With so many people pressing around Jesus, why would her contact with Jesus be any different from anyone else’s?  But Jesus knew the difference and gave her the opportunity to speak and share her story.  Then He exchanged her fear for peace.

Ever see the pictures of mega churches filled with thousands of people and wonder if you in your tiny little church in your small corner of the world can reach Jesus?  Jesus knows the difference between all the superficial attention and those who are reaching out to Him in desperate faith.  He knows the difference between the appearance of power and those who actually seeking His power.  What do you need the power of Jesus for today?  Who needs to be healed?  Who needs to be forgiven?  What impossibility rests so heavily upon your life that has left you destitute of power and desperate for relief? Come, touch Jesus, tell Him the truth about why you’ve come and finally receive the blessings He wants to give you today!

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” – Matthew 6:13.
