How the Man Overcame the Demons

How the Man Overcame the Demons

Mark 5:15 – They came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man sitting there, clothed and in his right mind – the one who had the “Legion” – and they were afraid. 16 – Those who had seen what had happened to the demon-possessed man reported it, and they also told about the pigs. 17 – Then they asked Jesus to leave their region.

verse 18 – As he was getting into the boat the man who had been demon-possessed asked if he could go with him. 19 – But Jesus did not permit him to do so Instead, he said to him, “Go to your home and to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you, that he had mercy on you.” 20 – So he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what Jesus had done for him, and all were amazed.

The people were afraid of Jesus and asked Him to leave.  It seemed like a win for the demons which had put on a dramatic display of violence causing the destruction of two-thousand pigs (see Mark 5:13).  Jesus, however, already had a plan.  He assigned a mission to the man who was demon-possessed:  tell your story about what Jesus did for you.  Tell about how He had mercy on you.  The man did exactly that.  He told his story and all who heard it were amazed.

How did the man overcome the demons?  The answer is Jesus.

So that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down. But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Therefore you heavens rejoice, and all who reside in them! But woe to the earth and the sea because they devil has come down to you! He is filled with terrible anger, for he knows that he only has a little time!” – Revelation 12:9-12.

How do we overcome the dragon which deceives the whole world?  The answer is Jesus.  Let’s talk about what Jesus has done for us. Tell about how He had mercy on us.  Let the Holy Spirit amaze all those who hear your story.  Jesus has the power to command the ‘Legion’ today and set free all those who are brought to Him and put them in their right minds.  There is only a little time left.  Praise the Lord!  We can have victory in Jesus today!
