The Sower Has Come

The Sower Has Come

Mark 4:3 – “Listen! A sower went out to sow. 4 – And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 – Other seed fell on rocky ground where it did not have much soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep. 6 – When the sun came up it was scorched, and because it did not have sufficient root, it withered. 7 – Other seed fell among the thorns, and they grew up and choked it, and it did not produce grain. 8 – But other seed fell on good soil and produced grain, sprouting and growing: some yielded thirty times as much, some sixty, and some a hundred times.” 9 – And he said, “Whoever has ears to hear had better listen!”

What’s your day going to be like today?  The Sower has come with the word.  Maybe the word is what you’re reading here today or what you’ll listen to on the radio.  Satan will come and try to snatch it away so that it doesn’t take root.  In one ear and…. you know the rest…It’ll be a fleeting thought and then it will be gone, replaced with the latest news, sports, weather.

The Sower has come with the word.  A faithful friend or loved one sends you a text with a Scripture message meant just for you, the timing is uncanny – but it gets you in trouble – it requires you to make things right.  I thought the Word of God was supposed to help me, not hurt me.  What will you do?  Many will fall away immediately and look for something that doesn’t require change.

The Sower has come with the word and you want to engage and listen. Maybe it’s in your Bible or devotional book you have on your night stand. You want to read, but you slept in and you’ve got to make it to work on time, the dogs need to go out, the baby is crying.  You’re tracking a package on Amazon and it’s been delayed and that’s so frustrating.  You got sent a funny reel from a sibling and you can’t keep from scrolling through…oh boy, I spent more time than I expected – the Word just can’t make it through all the distractions and the message intended for you produces nothing.

The Sower has come with the word and you sit up in bed and take the time to read your Bible and contemplate.  You feel the need to talk to God about it and you close your eyes and have a little talk with Jesus.  Thank-you for thinking of me.  I need forgiveness.  I want to change.  Give me the strength and will to do what’s right.  You get up from your prayer time at peace – and the message will bear fruit through every situation you’ll face today.

What’s your day going to be like today?  Maybe check this message out again this evening and look back and see what kind of day you had.  The Sower is going to continue sowing the Word for you each day.  Let’s give Him some good soil to sow in.

Dear Lord, help us to receive the Word and bear the fruit you intend for us to produce.  Thank-you for your everlasting love!  Amen!
