Jesus is Born

Jesus is Born

Luke 2:10 – But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people: 11 – Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

Christmas Day has finally arrived.  My youngest child, who is 8, rushed into my room at 2:00a wondering if it was morning yet.  I remember being that age standing before the sleeping forms of my parents in disbelief wondering how they could sleep on such an incredible morning.  I wanted the good news – the good news of Jesus and the good news of what was in all those wrapped gifts!

The shepherds were not sleeping when the angel came to visit them with the good news.  At first they were terrified as if they were having a great nightmare, but then came the good news.  The birth of Jesus was good news to all people – especially the shepherds.  What other group received a personal invite to see Jesus from the heavenly army?

A couple days ago a church member and I had the privilege of sharing the story of the birth of Jesus with some of the prisoners at the Bismarck State Penitentiary.  What an incredible group of men!  They shared with us how they were dealing with a sudden disappointment and how the message gave them hope and the power to cope.  The message of the angels about Jesus is for them.  The message is for you!  Today your Savior is born in the city of David.  He is Christ the Lord!

Have a merry Christmas!
