Conceived in Her

Conceived in Her

Matthew 1:20 – When he had contemplated this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 – She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Joseph was contemplating leaving Mary because of something that looked like sin.  An angel of the Lord had to explain to him that the child conceived in her would be Jesus, the One who would save His people from their sin.  The Holy Spirit would conceive Jesus in Mary.  Jesus would be “God with us,” our Emmanuel.

Mary would carry Jesus and give birth to Him.  With God nothing is impossible.  Now let’s look at something else that is only possible with God.  Read the words of Jesus:

Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him.  But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you. “I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you. In a little while the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too. You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you. The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” – John 14:16-21.

The Holy Spirit resided in Mary and she gave birth to Jesus according to the prophecy.  According to Jesus the Holy Spirit wants to reside in all those who love Him and they will give birth to good works.  They will give birth to commandment obedience.  For with God nothing shall be impossible.

May we allow the Holy Spirit to conceive good works within each of our lives today!

Merry Christmas!
