Where is the King?

Where is the King?

Matthew 2:1 – After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the time of King Herod, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem 2 – saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

What an incredible reversal.  If you recall the stories of Daniel and his three Hebrew friends, God blessed them to the extent that King Nebuchadnezzar found them to be ten times better than any of his own wise men in his entire empire (see Daniel 1:20).

By the time of Jesus’ birth wise men from the east were blessed by God with wisdom to recognize the rising star in the east and to follow it in order to find the baby Jesus, the king of the Jews.  None of the chief priests and experts in the law were keen enough to catch the rising star.  There was only one reason for this and it’s the same reason for the inferiority of the Nebuchadnezzar’s wise men:  They were not following God.

Matthew 2:3 says:  When King Herod heard this he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.

When we cease to follow God – news of what Jesus is doing in heaven and signs of His soon return will cause alarm instead of joy.  Let’s search for Jesus today knowing that we will find Him if we search for Him with all our hearts.

Where is the King? He is in heaven but, if we will let Him, He can also be found dwelling in our hearts through faith.

I pray that according to the wealth of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love, you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3:16-19.
