God Owns the Earth

God Owns the Earth

Ecclesiastes 5:8 – If you see the extortion of the poor, or the perversion of justice and fairness in the government, do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, and there are higher ones over them! 9 – The produce of the land is seized by all of them, even the king is served by the fields.

This is the truth. The poor are suffering extortion.  Justice and fairness is perverted by the government. It’s happening now, thousands of years after these words were originally written.

Here’s something else that’s true:

The heavens – indeed the highest heavens – belong to the LORD your God, as does the earth and everything in it. However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples – as is apparent today. Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn! For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe, who justly treats the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing. So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. Revere the LORD your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name. – Deuteronomy 10:14-20.

He lifts the weak from the dust; he raises the poor from the ash heap to seat them with princes and to bestow on them an honored position. The foundations of the earth belong to the LORD, and he has placed the world on them. He watches over his holy ones, but the wicked are made speechless in the darkness, for it is not by one’s own strength that one prevails. The LORD shatters his adversaries; he thunders against them from the heavens. The LORD executes judgment to the ends of the earth. He will strengthen his king and exalt the power of his anointed one. – 1 Samuel 2:8-10.

The LORD owns the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live in it. For he set its foundation upon the seas, and established it upon the ocean currents. Who is allowed to ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may go up to his holy dwelling place? The one whose deeds are blameless and whose motives are pure, who does not lie, or make promises with no intention of keeping them. Such godly people are rewarded by the LORD and vindicated by the God who delivers them. Such purity characterizes the people who seek his favor, Jacob’s descendants, who pray to him. (Selah) – Psalm 24:1-6.

We will be astonished when God makes things right for He owns the earth and all it contains.  Only the blameless will succeed in the end.  Here is more good news: God can make us blameless!   “And may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you, so that your hearts are strengthened in holiness to be blameless before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.” – 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13.
