The Seventh day is Blessed

The Seventh day is Blessed

Genesis 2:1 – The heavens and the earth were completed with everything that was in them. 2 – By the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing, and he ceased on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing. 3 – God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it he ceased all the work that he had been doing in creation.

The heavens and the earth were completed.  The light, sky, moving the waters to make land appear with all vegetation, sun, moon, stars, water animals, air animals, land animals, and finally humankind were all in existence together – one grand habitation for the adoration and honor of God.

God took an entire day to see everything working together and then blessed the day itself – because He stopped His work of creating!  On days five and six God blessed all the living creatures including humanity.  He told them to be fruitful and multiply – but the seventh day of the week would be a different kind of blessing.  While all creatures would continue to grow in number to the glory of God, seventh days would also grow in number to glorify God in its completeness declaring that God finishes what He starts – and that when He finishes – He stops to see it all.

Do you know that the seventh day is also the day Jesus stopped His work of saving us on the cross?  Take a moment to stop what you’re doing today and take a look back on the week.  All the work of the week has led to this day with all its accumulated joys and sorrows, victories and failures.  We may not look back on the week as God does and see a perfect week – But we can look back on the week and see our perfect, glorious God and bring glory and adoration to Him!  The beauty of this worship is that we can look forward to doing it all again next week and the following week forever and ever!

“Treat my Sabbaths as holy and they will be a reminder of our relationship, and then you will know that I am the LORD your God.” – Ezekiel 20:20.

Have a very happy and blessed Sabbath day!
