Separated From the Darkness

Separated From the Darkness

Genesis 1:3 – God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light! 3 – God saw that the light was good, so God separated the light from the darkness.

Yesterday I asked my youngest child what his favorite Bible story was.  He quoted Genesis 1:3 – God said “Let there be light.” And there was light!  And then he continued to recite Bible verses he had learned by memory!

Look! He is returning with clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of him. This will certainly come to pass! Amen. – Revelation 1:7

But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9.

I was amazed!  He knew how to turn on the ‘light’ when asked!  How about you and me?  Why not turn on the ‘light’ more often?

Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed. But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God. – John 3:19-21.

On the first day of creation God created light and separated it from the darkness.  The light was good – but we came to love the dark so we could conceal our evil deeds.

Today is a new day.  Let Jesus shine His light in us and separate us from the darkness – for Jesus is good!  His light is good – for it is in the light of Jesus that we find life!
