Let the Nations Thank You
Psalm 67:1 – May God show us his favor and bless us! May he smile on us! (Selah) 2 – then those living on earth will know what you are like; all nations will know how you deliver your people. 3 – Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you!
verse 4 – Let foreigners rejoice and celebrate! For you execute justice among the nations, and govern the people living on earth. (Selah) 5 – Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you! 6 – The earth yields its crops. May God, our God, bless us! 7 – May God bless us! Then all the ends of the earth will give him the honor he deserves.
It seems today like nations are judging and executing each other, carrying out acts of vengeance and retribution. Where is the thanksgiving of the nations to God who causes the sun to shine and the rain to fall? Where is the favor of God among the nations of the world who are determined to forget Him as they practice every act of violence and deceit?
This Psalm of David, a prophetic song, puts the nations on notice. The day is coming when all the nations will see how God delivers His people and then they will sing “To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be praise, honor, glory, and ruling power forever and ever!” – Revelation 5:13b.
How much better to faithfully honor Jesus now than to be forced to acknowledge Him when the entire sky explodes with the glory of His return and every nation turns to ruins as they witness Him deliver His people. “May God bless us! Then all the ends of the earth will give Him the honor He deserves.”
Where two are gathered
