No Offense

No Offense

Matthew 11:2 – Now when John heard in prison about the deeds Christ had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question: 3 – “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” 4 – Jesus answered them, “Go tell John what you hear and see: 5 – The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them. 6 – Blessed is anyone who takes offense at me.

John, the greatest of all the prophets, was having doubts about Christ. From prison he sent a message to Jesus through his disciples seeking some kind of confirmation.  The image of the dove and the sound of God’s voice at Jesus’ baptism had faded into distant memory and John was wondering “should we look for another?”

Has that ever happened to you?  Ever doubted your own baptism? Has your once strong, unwavering conviction in Jesus been shaken and you’re wondering – should I look for another?  Am I in the right place?  John could no longer depend upon what he was hearing from his disciples from prison.  Their biased reports were troubling.  John had to get a message to Jesus.

If you are troubled – then get a message to Jesus.  Talk to Him in prayer.  Share the burden with others who will also get the message to Jesus in prayer and Jesus will tell you what you need to hear – The news is good!  Sin can be forgiven!  The captive can be set free!  The kingdom of God is real! Jesus is coming again!  Let’s take no offense at Jesus and receive the blessing He has in store for us today!
