Demonic Silence

Demonic Silence

Matthew 9:32 – As they were going away, a man who could not talk and was demon-possessed was brought to him. 33 – After the demon was cast out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel!” 34 – But the Pharisees said, “By the ruler of demons he casts out demons.”

I’m trying to imagine the kind of demonic possession that would rob a person of the ability to speak.  What if it happened on a large scale affecting whole communities, cities, or even nations?  How much evil would run rampant without anyone to speak up against it? Fortunately we are not defenseless.  The crowds were amazed when the man began to speak after Jesus cast out the demon.

Has the devil got our tongues?  Have we lost the ability to speak up against the forces of evil around us?  Let’s draw near to Jesus.  Let Him take care of the fear gripping our hearts.  Let Him take care of the distractions that have pulled our attention away from His cross.  Let Him cast out the demons keeping us silent from protest, praise, petition, and thanksgiving.  We are not alone.  Let’s lift each other up in prayer to Jesus – When we are set free may it be said ‘never has anything like this been seen in the whole world!’

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of his Christ, have now come, because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down. But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. – Revelation 12:10-11
