With Full Rights

With Full Rights

Galatians 4:1 – Now I mean that the heir, as long as he is minor, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything. 2 – But he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. 3 – So also we, when we were minors, were enslaved under the basic forces of the world.

I can’t help but think of all the minors crossing over into the USA from the southern border – being enslaved to those who would abuse them for their own gain.  These are the basic forces of the world for them.  I realize these verses are not specifically targeting abused children but referring to the fact that we are all l enslaved under the basic forces of the world – and we can see what evil this world is capable of – but there is hope!

Verse 4 – But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 – to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights. 6 – And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!” 7 – So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.

Even Jesus subjected Himself to the basic forces of the world and look how the world abused Him!  He endured all this so we can be adopted into His family with full rights.  What does that mean?  Full rights to the kingdom!  Full rights to eternal life!  Full rights to the change – when we are changed from mortal to immortal!  Full rights to leave this place and cross a different border – the border between earth and heaven, where no abuse will ever happen again.

When the time is right Jesus will return and will redeem His children, His sons and daughters who have received His Spirit into their hearts, who cry out “Abba! Father!”  Let’s receive the Spirit of Jesus Christ into our hearts today!  May all our children, no matter where they may find themselves enslaved by this evil world, receive the Spirit of Jesus into their hearts and know that someway, somehow they will be rescued and redeemed.

Redeemed how I love to proclaim it – Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!  Redeemed through His infinite mercy.  His child and forever I am!
