First Resurrection
Revelation 20:6 – Blessed and holy is the one who takes part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
Who wants to take part in the first resurrection? I do! I wish that everyone who has died would take part in the first resurrection. Sadly that will not be the case. Taking part in the first resurrection is reserved for those who are blessed and holy.
The thought just occurred to me – can you guess what else is blessed and holy? Check out Genesis 2:3 – God BLESSED the seventh day and made it HOLY because on it he ceased all the work that he had been doing in creation.
God has been working on making blessed and holy all those who come to Him in faith – There will not be anyone who wants to be with Christ left out of taking part in the first resurrection. There will come a time however when all our choices for Christ will have been made and there will be no more opportunity for minds to change – because when the deadline hits – no one will want to change – and God will cease his work of making people blessed and holy. Then the words of the messenger speaking to the apostle John will come to pass – “Let the one who does what is evil continue to do what is evil. Let the filthy person continue to be filthy. Let the righteous person continue to do what is right. And let the holy person continue to be holy.” – Revelation 22:11.
Today is our opportunity to let God do His work on our lives so that we do not have to continue doing evil. By God’s grace let’s do good! We don’t have continue being filthy. Jesus is faithful to cleanse us from all unrighteousness! “For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:6.
Jesus will perfect His work in you – making you blessed and holy – so that you will take part in the first resurrection when He returns.
