Exaltation of Jesus

Exaltation of Jesus

Isaiah 52:13 – “Look, my servant will succeed! He will be elevated, lifted high, and greatly exalted – 14 – (just as many were horrified by the sight of you) he was so disfigured he no longer looked like a man; 15 – his form was so marred he no longer looked human – so now he will startle many nations. Kings will be shocked by his exaltation, for they will witness something unannounced to them, and they will understand something they had not heard about.

Philippians 2:8 says – He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross! 9 – As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name. 10 – so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – in heaven and on earth and under the earth – 11 – and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

The exaltation of Jesus will be so shocking and startling to the nations and their kings – they will wonder saying “why haven’t we heard about this?” “we did not see this coming?” – yet the verse says they will understand.  What will they understand?  They will intuitively understand that they are in the presence of the greatest power in the whole universe and from their lips they will confess “Jesus Christ is Lord!”

How will we choose to live?  Will we live in denial of the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ that is being proclaimed throughout the world?  Will we treat the good news of Jesus as clever ‘misinformation’ and endeavor to seek salvation under another name?  Will national concerns overwhelm the spiritual?  if so, then we, too, will be just as shocked as nations and kings when Jesus reveals Himself in glory at His return.  We will be as shocked as if we had never heard the news.

So then we must not sleep as the rest, but must stay alert and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation. For God did not destine us for wrath but for gaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that whether we are alert or asleep we will come to life together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing. – 1 Thessalonians 5:6-11.

Jesus will succeed.  The good news of forgiveness and salvation is real.  Jesus is the only name in salvation and He wants us all to be a part of it.  The exaltation of Jesus is coming and He wants us to be ready!  Let’s renew our faith in Him today!
