One With Jesus

One With Jesus

Isaiah 50:4 – The sovereign LORD has given me the capacity to be his spokesman, so that I know how to help the weary. He wakes me up every morning; he makes me alert so I can listen attentively as disciples do. 5 – The sovereign LORD has spoken to me clearly; I have not rebelled, I have not turned back. 6 – I offered my back to those who attacked, my jaws to those who tore out my beard; I did not hide my face from insults and spitting.

verse 7 – But the soverign LORD helps me, so I am not humiliated. For that reason I am steadfastly resolved; I know I will not be put to shame. 8 – The one who vindicated me is close by. Who dares to argue with me? Let us confront each other! Who is my accuser? Let him challenge me! 9 – Look, the sovereign LORD helps me. Who dares to condemn me? Look, all of them will wear out like clothes; a moth will eat away at them.

verse 10 – Who among you fears the LORD? who obeys his servant? Whoever walks in deep darkness, without light, should trust in the name of the LORD and rely on God. 11 – Look, all of you who start a fire and who equip yourselves with flaming arrows, walk in the light of the fire you started and among the flaming arrows you ignited! This is what you will receive from me: you will lie down in a place of pain.

As I read these incredible verses this morning the one thought that the kept repeating itself to me was that Isaiah was having a oneness experience with Jesus.  Read the words of Jesus in John 17:20 – Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 – That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou has sent me.

Jesus has prayed for us all to experience a similar oneness with Him.  Accepting Jesus into our lives will result in suffering like Him.  Accusers who challenge and condemn will wear themselves out trying ensnare God’s people in subtle, perverted arguments.  But the fire that is lit will shine throughout the world and many more believers will be born.  We will lie down in a place of pain but wake up with no taint of corruption upon our bodies when Jesus comes again.

Don’t fear being one with Jesus.  The sovereign LORD will help you just as He helped Jesus when He walked this earth and Isaiah before Him.  Let’s trust in the name of the Lord and rely on Him today!
