The Covenant Mediator

The Covenant Mediator

Isaiah 42:1 – “Here is my servant whom I support, my chosen one in whom I take pleasure. I have placed my spirit on him; he will make just decrees for the nations. 2 – He will not cry out or shout; he will not publicize himself in the streets. 3 – A crushed reed he will not break, a dim wick he will not extinguish; he will faithfully make just decrees.

verse 4 – He will not grow dim or be crushed before establishing justice on the earth; the coastlands will wait in anticipation for his decrees.” 5 – This is what the true God, the LORD, says – the one who created the sky and stretched it out, the one who fashioned the earth and everything that lives on it, the one who gives breath to the people on it, and life to those who live on it: 6 – “I, the LORD officially commission you; I take hold of your hand. I protect you and make you a covenant mediator for the people, and a light to the nations. 7 – to open blind eyes, to release prisoners from dungeons, those who live in darkness from prisons.

Jesus is the covenant mediator.  Jesus is the chosen One who is merciful enough to leave the crushed reeds unbroken and the dim wicks still lit.  Does your spirit feel bruised?  Does it seem like your light is about to go out?  How frustrating is it to see what’s going on around us and still be completely blind to the bigger picture of the great war between good and evil?  Do you feel trapped by life and circumstances with no way out in sight? – Jesus is the One chosen to set you free.  He is our mediator of the great covenant of salvation.  He is our light.

Let’s not continue rushing headlong into darkness carried about by every false teaching of the world.  With Jesus we can find forgiveness right there at the cross; forgiveness from Him and the power to forgive others.  With Jesus we can find freedom from sin.  With Jesus we can find the power to do right.  With Jesus the light of truth will shine and the confusing things of the world will finally come into focus and we will finally ‘get it.’

Let Jesus be our covenant mediator of salvation today and may hope for a better future be renewed in all our lives today!
