At That Moment

At That Moment

Matthew 27:50 – When Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He yielded up His spirit. 51 – At that moment the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. 52 – The tombs broke open, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

With His last cry of agony Jesus died.  He stopped breathing.  He became still.  That very moment as the echo of His cry pierced all creation the veil was torn, the earth shook, and the tombs of the saints broke open.

This morning I’m straining to hear that cry of Jesus with ears of faith; straining to capture that very moment when Jesus gave His all for me at the cross.  Can you hear His cry of agony echoing through time and space to reach your heart?  What will happen when it does?

Let my heart break – just like the breaking open of the tombs – and may a new heart be raised up within my life – a new heart to live as Jesus lives; a new heart to love as Jesus loves.  And may I declare, like the centurion, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
