Green Pastures and Quiet Waters

Green Pastures and Quiet Waters

Psalms 23:2 – He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.

Soft grass and waters of rest.  What a picture of peace in a chaotic world!

Looking at the life of Jesus – He said, he had no place to play to lay his head like foxes or birds do.  He had no ‘hole’ or ‘nest’ to call home and slept wherever He traveled enjoying the hospitality of friends like Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.  He could find a ‘quiet’ place almost anywhere even in boats during stormy weather.

Is your life a restless bed of affliction?  Do you have the blessings of a home and bed but find that the pasture is a wilderness of dry, prickly grass and the waters are either dried up or have been whipped up into a frenzy by the winds of stress and turmoil?

Let’s get in touch with the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.  He can turn your bed of affliction into a green pasture of soft grass and lead you to still waters of rest.  In today’s verse – the Good Shepherd ‘makes’ these places for us.  He may not take away the circumstances causing us stress – but he can make the peace in the midst of it.  He is the Creator.  He can make anything.

Let Him turn your restlessness into restfulness today!
