The Ending is Better

The Ending is Better

Ecclesiastes 7:7 – Unjust gain makes the wise foolish, and a bribe corrupts the heart. 8 – The conclusion of something is better than its beginning, and a patient attitude is more valuable than a proud one.

verse 9 – Never be in a hurry to become internally angry, since anger settles down in the lap of fools. 10 – Never ask, “Why does the past seem so much better than now?” because this question does not come from wisdom.

A new year is almost upon us and with it will almost certainly be a continuation or even acceleration of the challenges of the past year.  There will be temptations to take shortcuts to escape trials that we’ll face; temptations to adopt the anger of the world for issues they think are important; and temptations to lament over the ‘good old days.’

Solomon says to be patient.  Things will end better than they began.  We are closer to the end than we are to the beginning.  No matter how bad things get – each day that goes by brings us a day closer to the return of Jesus Christ.  This is the ending that I’m looking forward to.  May this new year bring us all closer to Jesus.

For people keep telling us what kind of welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve a living and true God and to wait for his Son whom he raised from the dead to come back from heaven. This Jesus is the one who rescues us from the coming wrath. – 1 Thessalonians 1:9, 10.
