View of the Mountain

View of the Mountain

Exodus 32:1 – When the people saw that Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, “Get up, make us gods that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has bcome of him!”

We previously saw the elders eating and drinking in the presence of God.  We saw that the power of God was in plain view of all the people – the lightning, thunder, and smoke.  We saw that they even heard the voice of God speaking to Moses and begged for God to not speak to them directly.  They received their daily allotment of manna and quail.  They even had running water!  They only thing they weren’t doing was moving.  They were waiting for Moses to return and were beginning to assume he was not coming back.

What a warning for us today!  Remember that Moses was an example of Jesus.  The people began to grow restless wondering if Moses was ever going to return and so they begged Aaron to make a substitute they could worship.  The problem with artificial substitutes is that they are not alive and can’t speak or hear.  As a result the people decided to rewrite history and leave God out of it.  All of this was happening within view of the mountain.  It was all happening right there for God to see!

Are you growing weary waiting for the return of Jesus Christ?  Jesus warned us that false christs and false prophets would appear who would seek to deceive as many as possible.  Let’s not fall for the aritificial substitutes who will seek to rewrite history, remove God and change His laws!  We are always within view of the kingdom of God.  The true and authentic Jesus is ever near to hear and answer our prayers!  Let’s keep our eyes fixed on the light of Jesus Christ today!

“Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.” – Colossians 3:1-4.
