Moses and Aaron

Moses and Aaron

Exodus 4:28 – Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him and all the signs that he had commanded him. 29 – Then Moses and Aaron went and brought together all the Israelite elders. 30 – Aaron spoke all the words that the LORD had spoken to Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people, 31 – and the people believed. When they heard that the LORD had attended to the Israelites and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed down close to the ground.

Moses went first to his brother, Aaron.  The two of them then went to the elders and then finally to the Israelite people.  The scriptures say that the people believed.  They saw the signs and believed that God was seeing their affliction and they bowed down in worship to God.  After this they took the message to Pharaoh who did not believe.  Things then got worse before they got better.

Check out the words of Jesus to His disciples in Matthew 24:  As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus answered them, “Watch out that no ne misleads you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many. You will hear of wars adn rumors of wars. Make sure that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  All these things are the beginning of birth pains.  Matthew 24:3-8.

The signs are continuing to show themselves as Jesus said they would to his disciples.  There are brothers and sisters, sons and daughters in our midst whom God may be calling us to share these signs with.  There are church leaders and church families to encourage and keep the words of God before them and then finally there are the Pharaohs with whom we will be called to share the message.  Some, like Pharaoh will reject God, but still others will receive the message and believe.  And then things will get worse before they get better.  Persecution will rise again.  “But the person who endures to the end will be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” – Matthew 24:14, 15.

Let us believe in Jesus and bow with humility before Him.  The signs and the Savior are both real.  Jesus has seen our pain and all we have endured and is planning our deliverance.  I wonder:  Is there someone, like Aaron, whom Jesus is calling you to partner with to share with others the message of the gospel?  Let’s be open to the leading of the Lord as He prepares us all for the end and His glorious appearing.
