Kindness of Joseph

Kindness of Joseph

Genesis 40:5 – Both of them, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream the same night. Each man’s dream had its own meaning. 6 – When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were looking depressed. 7 – So he asked Pharaoh’s officials, who were with him in custody in his master’s house, “Why do you look so sad today?” 8 – They told him, “We both had dreams, but there is no one to interpet them.” Joseph responded, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me.”

Joseph took the time to ask why they looked sad.  He showed concern for their well-being.  This simple kindness shown opened a way for Joseph explain to the cupbearer and baker a truth about God:  Interpretations belong to Him.  Years later, after the cupbearer returned to his position in the palace, the Pharaoh had a dream and the cupbearer finally remembered Joseph.

May God open our eyes to the suffering of others so that we can show kindness.  God will work through these simple acts of kindness to lead as many as possible to salvation.  May God bless you this Sabbath day!
