A Full Life

A Full Life

Genesis 35:27 – So Jacob came back to his father Isaac in Mamre, to Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. 29 – Isaac lived to be 180 years old. 29 – Then Isaac breathed his last and joined his ancestors. He died an old man who had lived a full life. His sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

No one today lives to be 180 years old – but each of us can live a full life in Jesus Christ.  Jacob returned home to be with his dad.  What a precious few days that must have been as Isaac may have been able to witness the miracle of peace between his two sons – a wonderful conclusion to a full life.

My dad often said the phrase “life is what you make it.”  We can choose to make it full or empty regardless of its duration.  If we choose Jesus then we are choosing a full life.  If we choose ourselves – then life will be profoundly empty.

Today my heart and my prayers go out to a precious family who has reunited to be with a family member who may be nearing the day when he will breathe his last.  There is no doubt that God has the power to work a miracle and restore life.  There is an additional miracle I’m praying for – it is the miracle of each family member being able to share with each other the burdens on their hearts, make things right, and say all that their hearts yearn to say.  In other words – it is the miracle of having full lives in the precious little time they may have left.

Jesus can do this with them and He can do this with all of us.  A full life begins with Jesus.  Jesus said “I am the door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. – John 10:9, 10.

May we allow Jesus to add fullness and salvation to our lives today!
