Uncountable Stars

Uncountable Stars

Genesis 15:5 – And he took him out into the open air, and said to him, Let your eyes be lifted to heaven, and see if the stars may be numbered; even so will your seed be. 6 – And he had faith in the Lord, and it was put to his account as righteousness.

Living out in the country has given me the opportunity to see more stars in the night sky than if I was living in the city.  Take the time to go out into open country at night and look up into the night sky.  Look at the stars and just try to count them.  God challenged Abram to try numbering the stars to see if they can be counted.  It’s implied here that it is not humanly possible.  This is now numerous Abram’s seed would be.  Revelation calls it a multitude no one could number (Revelation 7:9)

What is encouraging to me is that we can be part of such a multitude; a multitude so great that no one would be able to count them.  Abram was told to look up and see how numerous his descendants would be.  Today, we can look up, believe in Jesus, and know that we can be part of such a great number.

“for what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 4 – Now to someone who works, wages are not considered a gift but an obligation. 5 – However, to someone who does not work, but simply believes in the one who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.

If we don’t look up from time to time we fall prey to discouragement, thinking there’s no way God could save us.  But if we look up and believe in Jesus let’s be encouraged with the thought that with so great a number – there is no way God could lose us.  God wants all of us to be part of an uncountable multitude.  Let’s renew our faith in Jesus and have His righteousness credited to our account today!
