The Day of Small Things

The Day of Small Things

Zechariah 4:7 – Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 9 – The hands of Zerubbabel have put the base of this house in place, and his hands will make it complete; and it will be clear to you that the Lord of armies has sent me to you.

verse 10 – For who has had a poor opinion of the day of small things? For they will be glad when they see the weighted measuring-line in the hand of Zerubbabel. Then he said in answer to me, These seven lights are the eyes of the Lord which go quickly up and down through all the earth.

Zerubbabel was going to succeed in the Spirit of God. The building of the house of God was going to appear to start small but he would continue until it was finished. The seemingly insurmountable mountain would be made into plain.

The eyes of God that look upon the entire world see you and me too. He knows our fear to start anything big for fear of failure – but do not ignore God’s call. He can level the greatest of mountains before us if we will but take the first small steps in faith. The measuring line in the hand of Zerubbabel was to indicate magnitude of what God was going to do.

Ever look back on your life to see how God has led you to where you are today? That is what using the measuring-line is all about. Whether we are looking back at great or small accomplishments matters not. Even the penitent thief on the cross took the measuring line across the ruins of his life and concluded that if God remembered him he would be satisfied with the result.

Let’s believe in God and ask for His Spirit. With the smallest of beginnings – the end result will make it clear that God is real and He wants to do the impossible for you and level your mountains!

For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6.
