Acts of God Revealed

Acts of God Revealed

John 9:1 – Now as Jesus was passing by, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 – His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who committed the sin that caused him to be born blind, this man or his parents?” 3 – Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that the acts of God may be revealed through what happens to him….”

This is an amazing explanation for how to deal with tragedies. Jesus, who created the world by just speaking, has the ability to reveal His awesome power through any tragedy. The greater the tragedy, the greater His power. Being blind from birth meant this man didn’t know what it meant to see. What kind of specific power would it take to make a man like that see? What kind of specific power would it take to save a sinner like you and me?

A miracle like this was to demonstrate to all of us that God has far more power than we give Him credit for. As Creator, God can make a man born incomplete – completely whole. He can make a man born in darkness, see the light. Jesus can do what is physically impossible for us. Jesus can also do what is spiritually impossible for us. He can make the spiritually blind, see. He can save the sinner. He can give understanding. He can forgive!

Jesus says in verse 4 – We must perform the deeds of the one who sent me as long as it is daytime. Night is coming when no one can work. 5 – As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Jesus is still the light of the world. May He open our eyes and reveal to us the light of His love today!
