Heard For Themselves
John 4:39 – Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 – So when the Samaritans came to him, they began asking to stay with them. He stayed there two days, 41 – and because of his word many more believed.
Verse 42 – They said to the woman, “No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one really is the Savior of the world.”
The Samaritan woman’s report was convincing enough for many in town however many more believed because of the words of Jesus Himself. According to verse 42 a change took place among those who were convinced about Jesus because of the woman. They told her “No longer do we believe because of you…” They believed now because they had heard Jesus for themselves just like the woman.
Where do we stand with Jesus? Are we convinced about Him because of another person’s story or do we believe because we’ve heard Him for ourselves? Are you convinced that Jesus really is the Savior of the world?
Let’s find Jesus for ourselves and discover that even though He knows everything we’ve ever done, He loves us still and desires to save us!
