Given the Holy Spirit

Given the Holy Spirit

John 3:32 – He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 – The one who has accepted his testimony has confirmed clearly that God is truthful. 34 – For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit sparingly. 35 – The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority. 36 – The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on him.

The person speaking in these verses was John the Baptist. He was explaining the important distinction between himself and the Son of God. The Son is the bridegroom, John was the friend. The Son is more important and John was less important. The Son is superior to everyone.

John the Baptist further explained that the Son speaks the words of God. The Father gives the Spirit abundantly. The Father loves the Son. The Son has authority over all things. Believing in the Son leads to eternal life.

Today many will be singing, studying and praying over the words of Jesus. Let’s accept His testimony and confirm in our own hearts that God is truthful and wants to give an abundant measure of the Holy Spirit to all who ask.

Have a blessed Sabbath!
