The Word

The Word

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. 2 – The Word was with God in the beginning. 3 – All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.

Looking back at the account of creation in Genesis we see written there multiple times: God said, let there be… and there it was. The Word, which was fully God, was faithful and true at creation.

Picture the Word at the cross saying “Father, forgive them…” Forgiveness came from both Son and Father. Both Son and Father were together at creation and at the cross. The Word, Jesus Christ, is just as powerful today as He was at creation.

Reading verse 3 again: All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. The thought hit me: He died for all people, and apart from him not one person can be saved that will be saved.

We have been given a power in our words. Power to build up or tear down. Power to bear a true witness or a false witness. Power to conceal or confess. Let’s use our God-given power of our words to built up, be a true witness and confess our sins to the Word, Jesus Christ, who is faithful and true to forgive us and cleanse of all unrighteousness. If we will let Him, He will make a new creation out of us in this life in preparation for the life to come!
