Blessing of Jesus
Luke 24:50 – Then Jesus led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. 51 – Now during the blessing he departed and was taken up into heaven.
Verse 52 – So they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 – and were continually in the temple courts blessing God.
As I was reading these verses this morning, I was thinking about all those who weren’t there to see the resurrected Jesus. Pilate, the chief priests, the Pharisees and many more people could have been there. They were so busy looking out for their own interests that they failed to see the greatest sign of all – Jesus ascending to heaven. Not only that, but by not being there they failed to receive the blessing.
Even though we weren’t there – Jesus has a blessing for us too. He pronounced a blessing on all those who have believed without having seen – But there is coming a day when every eye will see him; even those who pierced Him. The truth will be plain as day. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.
May we accept the truth, as revealed in the Bible, of who Jesus really is by faith and keep the blessing of God going day by day until we see Jesus coming again! Amen!
