The Sixth Day

Genesis 1:24 – God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” It was so. 25 – God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the cattle according to their kinds, and all the creatures that creep along the ground according to their kinds. God saw that it was good. 26 – Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move on the earth.”

verse 27 – God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them. 28 – God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.” 29 – Then God said, “I now give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the entire earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Verse 30 – And to all the animals of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give every green plant for food.” It was so. 31 – God saw all that he had made – and it was very good! There was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day.

As I’m typing these words I’m looking across the room at one of my dogs who is sleeping peacefully. The first dogs and humans and so many more creatures were created on the same day! Jesus accomplished a lot of creating on the sixth day of the first week and He pronounced it all very good!

As He increased the intensity of His work towards the end of the week, think of all the increased intensity that is taking place right now in His preparations to return.

In Philippians 1:6 Paul says – For I am certain of this very thing, that he by whom the good work was started in you will make it complete till the day of Jesus Christ. 8 – For God is my witness, how my love goes out to you all in the loving mercies of Christ Jesus. 9 – And my prayer is that you may be increased more and more in knowledge and experience; 10 – So that you may give your approval to the best things; that you may be true and without wrongdoing till the day of Christ; 11 – Being full of the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

“So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation. – 2 Corinthians 5:17, 18.

Let’s be that new creation in Christ Jesus today!
