Part of the Family

Luke 8:19 – Now Jesus’ mother and his brothers came to him but they could not get near him because of the crowd. 20 – So he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” 21 – But he replied to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

Check out these verses: Ephesians 1:3 – Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ. 4 – For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.

Verse 5 – He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will – 6 – to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.

Verse 13 – And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, 14 – who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

To those who told Jesus about his mother and brothers, Jesus spoke the words of promise to all those who hear the Words of God which is the Word of truth: “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” We can be family to Jesus by adoption. This is our destiny should we choose to believe it.

Let’s choose Jesus today and live like we’re part of the family. The Holy Spirit will mark you with His seal in preparation for the time of redemption when God will claim possession of all who are His!
