Unable to Hide

Unable to Hide

Mark 7:24 – After Jesus left there, he went to the region of Tyre. When he went into a house, he did not want anyone to know, but he was not able to escape notice. 25 – Instead, a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him and came and fell at his feet.

It baffles me to think that there is something in all the universe that Jesus is unable to do. We have the verses like Matthew 19:26 saying “… but for God all things are possible.” and Mark 10:27 saying “… “all things are possible for God.” But in Mark 7:24 it says that Jesus was “not able to escape notice.” Not able? I don’t understand, but this inability seems to be more attached to the character of Jesus than to any actual impossibility.

This inability of Jesus was an opportunity for the woman. This inability of Jesus is an opportunity for you and for me. One that we need to take advantage of, because we are living in a time when faith in Jesus Christ is eroding, being replaced with faith in other things. It is a great misunderstanding to think that Jesus cannot be found when the Bible actually says in Jeremiah 29:13 – “When you seek me in prayer and worship you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul,”

Jesus will not contradict His own promise. So, while He was attempting to escape notice, there was a woman who was desperately trying to find Him and, Surprise! She found Him! Why? Because His own promise made it so that He was unable to Hide from her. Jesus will continue to keep His promises even today. If we search for Him we are guaranteed to find Him. He is unable to hide from those who are seeking Him with all their hearts. However, if we are not searching, not seeking, or if we are half-hearted in coming to Jesus with our needs – we will be overwhelmed with skepticism and doubts, preferring to believe what we can see rather than believing in Jesus Christ by faith.

Let’s take advantage of the handicap Jesus placed upon Himself. A handicap making Him unable to hide from those who are looking for Him. Let’s look for Jesus today and “Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7.
