Rumors of Jesus

Rumors of Jesus

Mark 6:53 – After they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and anchored there. 54 – As they got out of the boat, people immediately recognized Jesus.

Verse 55 – They ran through that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever he was rumored to be. 56 – And wherever he would go – into villages, towns, or countryside – they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and would ask him if they could just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

The people, when they recognized Jesus, brought all their sick to Him. They were latching onto any rumor of His location so they could be where He was and ask to touch the edge of His cloak. And they were all healed.

Where is Jesus rumored to be today? Here’s what happened at Jesus’ last recorded physical location on earth – acts 1:4 – While he was with them, he declared, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what my Father promised, which you heard about from me. 5 – For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

verse 6 – So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him, “Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 – He told them, “You are not permitted to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.

Verse 8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.” 9 – After he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight.

Verse 10 – As they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenly two men in white clothing stood near them 11 – and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”

May the Holy Spirit come upon us all today and connect us with Jesus Christ who is yet to return. We will hear rumors of Jesus return, but it will not be Him. Jesus said, “Watch out that no one misleads you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many.” – Matthew 24:4,5. Many will touch the edge of the cloak of an impostor to be healed.

We can still bring our sick and suffering to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Let us receive the power the Holy Spirit wants to give us to be witnesses of Jesus in our corners of the world and lead others, by faith, to receive the healing and forgiveness of sins so desperately needed as we await His soon return!
