Open Minds

Open Minds

Luke 24:44 – Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.”

verse 45 – Then he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures, 46 – and said to them, “Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day, 47 – and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

The resurrected Jesus had suddenly appeared in front of the disciples. Their initial reaction was one of terror for they thought the vision of Jesus in front of them was one of a ghost. Jesus then had them touch his hands and feet so they could see for themselves that his body was physical.

Verse 41 – and while they still could not believe it (because of their joy) and were amazed, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 – So they gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 – and he took it and ate it in front of them.

While Jesus still had the taste of fish in his mouth, he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures and then proclaim the repentance for the forgiveness of sins to the whole world.

Jesus wants to open our minds too so we can understand the Scriptures, their fulfillment, and then proclaim the same message of repentance and forgiveness. More has been fulfilled today! There’s so much more to be understood. Let’s allow Jesus to give us what He gave to the disciples: peace, understanding, and the gospel message to proclaim in our corners of the world.
