Talking to Trees and Mountains

Talking to Trees and Mountains

Matthew 21:18 – In the morning, as Jesus was returning to the city, he became hungry. 19 – Seeing a fig tree by the roadside, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. He told it, “May fruit never come from you again!” And immediately the fig tree dried up.

Verse 20 – When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree dry up so quickly?” they asked. 21 – Jesus answered them, “I tell all of you with certainty, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you be able to do what has been done to the fig tree, but you will also say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. 22 – You will receive whatever you ask for in prayer, if you believe.”

I know some people who are dealing with figurative mountains that need to be removed and thrown into the sea. Maybe you know someone as well who needs more than just a mountain taken out of the way. Or maybe we are the ones who need the impossible done.

Jesus wants us to believe in Him and not be held back by impossibilities. Jesus explained previously that sometimes a problem requires fasting in addition to the prayer. Why did Jesus curse the fig tree in the first place? It looked like it should have had fruit but it didn’t. He made it so that it would always appear to be a fruitless tree. Let’s talk to our mountains in the name of Jesus so that these obstacles will never look like they are standing in our way again.

Isaiah 40:4 says – Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain 5 – And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

May the glory of the Lord be revealed as this verse comes true for you and me according to the faith we have in Jesus Christ. Let’s have a conversation with the things in our lives that cause us hunger, pain, and impede the progress of our characters – and then have a conversation with Jesus in prayer and believe that the impossible can be made possible and the Scriptures will be fulfilled according to the Word of God.

Isaiah 40:6 – A voice says, “Cry out!” So I asked, “What am I to cry out?” “All humanity is grass, and all its loyalty is like the flowers of the field. 7 – Grass withers and flowers fade away when the LORD’s breath blows on them; surely the people are like grass.

Verse 8 – Grass withers and flowers fade away, when the LORD’s breath blows on them; but the word of our God will stand forever.”

And may our faith in Him never waver again.
