The Lord Will Rule You
Judges 8:22 – Then the men of Israel asked Gideon, “Rule over us – you, your son, and your grandsons – because you have delivered us from Midian’s domination.” 23 – But Gideon told them, “I won’t rule over you and my son won’t rule over you. The LORD will rule you.”
It was God who had delivered Israel from the Midianites not Gideon. Gideon had wisely deferred rulership to God who was the true deliverer. It is the same today. The Lord’s prayer contains the petition “Deliver us from evil” – Matthew 6:13 – Let us make that petition and believe in the one true God who will make it happen.
The Bible says “the land was peaceful for 40 years during the lifetime of of Gideon.” – Judges 8:28. Praise God our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, lives and we will enjoy peace with Him throughout all eternity. May we be conscious of that peace with Jesus, our Savior and our King this Sabbath day.
