No More Manna

No More Manna

Joshua 5:10 – While the Israelis remained encamped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, they observed the Passover during the evening of the fourteenth day of the month. 11 – On the day following Passover – on that exact day – they ate the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain.

Verse 12 – The manna ceased on the day they ate the produce of the land. Since the Israelis no longer received manna, they ate crops from the land of Canaan that year.

If only our eyes could be opened to see how God has been miraculously providing for us on this earth as we await Jesus’ return. One thing I look forward to enjoying in the New Jerusalem is the food.

Revelation 22:1 – Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. It was flowing from the throne of God and the lamb. 2 – Between the city street and the river, the tree of life was visible from each side. It produced twelve kinds of fruit, each month having its own fruit. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

In the promised land, wilderness life ceased for the Israelites. Imagine how our lives will change in the New Jerusalem. Life as we know it now will be completely different. It will be completely new.

Until then, let us be grateful for what God provides us each day. Let us treasure the words of hope that we find in the Scriptures. One day God’s provisions on this earth will end as we exchange the old life for the new; then we will enjoy the food of the promised land forever and ever.
