Sabbath Rescue

Sabbath Rescue

Matthew 12:10 – Suddenly, a man with a paralyzed hand appeared. The people asked Jesus if it was lawful to heal on Sabbath days, intending to accuse him of doing something wrong. 11 – But he asked them, “Is there a man among you who, if he had one sheep and it fell into a ditch on the Sabbath, wouldn’t take hold of it and pull it out?

Verse 12 – How much more is a human being worth than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on Sabbath days.”

And yet we are guilty of treating people as if they’re worth less than sheep! We’d rather rescue sheep from ditches than people from their suffering. How did we get this way?

Isaiah 53;6 says “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

Dear Jesus, this Sabbath day, please rescue us from the ditches we have fallen into. Please take hold of us and pull us out and place us back into the way that leads to life; the way that leads to You.

Amen.
