Ezekiel the Watchman

Ezekiel the Watchman

Ezekiel 33:1 – The word of the LORD came to me: 2 – “Son of man, speak to your people, and say to them, ‘Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman. 3 – He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people, 4 – but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death. 5 – He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.

The chapter further describes what would happen if Ezekiel didn’t sound the warning.  The sword would come and the man would be swept away, but Ezekiel would be held accountable for that man’s death.

Have you been called to be the watchman for your time?  Can you really afford to behave like everyone else and ignore the warning signs God says to look for?  It’s a dangerous thing for the watchmen to not be watching.  Personally, I think there’s a lot to see right now.

Jesus answered them, “Watch out that no one misleads you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Make sure that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these things are the beginning of birth pains. “Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of my name. Then many will be led into sin, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And  many false prophets will appear and deceive many, and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold. But the person who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. – Matthew 24:4-14.

Watch out!

Sound the warning!

Endure to the end!

Preach the gospel!

The end is coming!

Jesus will soon be here!

I’m thankful for the people God has called to be the watchmen for our time.  May they continue to faithfully sound the warning and may many more lives be saved!
